지난 7 월 pre-order 해서 올해 받은 책.
부흥/Revival 에 관한 책은 마틴 로이드 존스 목사님 책이 대표적인데, 아무래도 그 분의 책은 그 시대 스타일이고 ,이 책은 오늘날의 문체와 구성이다.
그래도 두 책이 말하는 부흥의 기본적 특성들은 일치하겠지.
저자 중 한명 (J. Choung) 이 한국계다 보니, 평양대부흥 등의 역사를 소개한다. (선대 어른들이 그 부흥의 영향을 받아서 교회도 세우고 했다고)
부흥기도와 부흥회가 끊임없던 미국 한인교회에서 성장하면서 부흥에 대해서 부정적 시각을 가지고 있던 저자가 시각을 바꾸게 되었다는 것도 흥미롭다.
지금을 굳이 오른 쪽 도표에 끼어맞추자면 어디쯤일까 생각케 된다.
2020 년의 내 키워드는 Royal Priesthood 로 정했다.
밑에 옮긴 1 Peter 2: 9 에서 royal priesthood 라는 것만 쏙 뺴놓기에는, verse 전체가 주옥같은 하나님 말씀이다.
그와 마찬가지로 올해의 journey 에서 맞닥뜨릴 것들이 단어 하나나 성경 한 구절에 한정되지는 않으리라.
(그 외 소소한 개인적 resolution 들은 몇 있긴 하다. 예를 들면 spanish 배우기 등등)

A new way of being human (<= The Day the Revolution Began 책에서 쓰인 phrase)
The biblical vision of what it means to be human, the "royal priesthood" vocation, is more multidimensional than either of the regular alternatives. To reflect the divine image means standing between heaven and earth, even in the present time, adoring the Creator and bringing his purposes into reality on earth, ahead of the time when God completes the task and makes all things new. The "royal priesthood" is the company of rescued humans who, being part of "earth," worship the God of heaven and are thereby equipped, with the breath of heaven in their renewed lungs, to work for his kingdom on earth.
