A new heaven and a new earth

오늘 devotional 말씀
엄청난 이 말씀 (요한계시록 2 장) 을 오늘 읽으면서도 시큰둥한 건, 현재 상황 떄문인지도 모르겠다. 급물살처럼 닥친 일에  내면  process 할 정신도 없이 그를 위해 쉬지 않고 기도해야 하는 동시에, 여느떄와 똑같이 내 삶을 살아가야 하기 떄문이다.  pain (치통)에 시달리는 환자를 치료하고, anxious patient 들을 달래고, 최근 부쩍 많이 하게 된 수술 (apicoectomy)도 하고.  어시스턴트가 엑스레이를 찍는 사이에는 각종 communication 에도 답해야 하고... 바쁜 시간을 보냈다.  함께 일하는 이들에 대한 감사함도 부쩍 더 많이 느낀다.  또 집에 혼자 있더라도 먹어야 하니 grocery shopping 보러 다니고. 어제 두 군데 시장을 봤는데도, 가장 필요했던 계란을 쏙 뺴 놓고 안 사왔다. 
또한  시편 23 편으로 인해 한 번 더 돌아보게 된 다윗의 인생, 예례미야 애가와 출애굽기 묵상 유튭,  Tim Keller 의 "The Prodigal Prophet" , 달라스 윌라드의 <The divine conspiracy>   틈틈히 읽고 묵상하기. 
그러는 가운데 오늘 말씀을 읽으니, '먼 미래'의 일처럼 느껴지기만 한다. 그러니 살짝 절박케 된다. 왜 이 말씀을 이렇게 대할 수 밖에 없지? 
그러나,
이미 시작되었고 진행 중이고 완성될 A new heaven and a new earth, The New jerusalem 등등을  온전히 보고 소망하고 그 안에 존재하고 살아갈 수 있기를 기도한다. 
더디게 느껴지지만, 주님께서 이루실 것임을... 
주여 속히 오소서.

REVELATION 21:1-14

A New Heaven and a New Earth

21 Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,”[a] for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’[b] or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

5 He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”

6 He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life. 7 Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children. 8 But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”

The New Jerusalem, the Bride of the Lamb

9 One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.” 10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God. 11 It shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal. 12 It had a great, high wall with twelve gates, and with twelve angels at the gates. On the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of Israel. 13 There were three gates on the east, three on the north, three on the south and three on the west. 14 The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
