오늘 encounter with God 본문말씀

이 시국에 읽는 시편 46 편이  예사롭지 않게 다가온다.

v10 "Be still, and know that I am God;" 을 실천할 수 있는 시간이다. 

Psalm 46

1 God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
3 though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging.[c]

4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
the holy place where the Most High dwells.
5 God is within her, she will not fall;
God will help her at break of day.
6 Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall;
he lifts his voice, the earth melts.

7 The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.

8 Come and see what the Lord has done,
the desolations he has brought on the earth.
9 He makes wars cease
to the ends of the earth.
He breaks the bow and shatters the spear;

20 Prayers to Pray During This Pandemic

1. For the sick and infected: God, heal and help. Sustain bodies and spirits. Contain the spread of infection.

2. For our vulnerable populations: God, protect our elderly and those suffering from chronic disease. Provide for the poor, especially the uninsured.

3. For the young and the strong: God, give them the necessary caution to keep them from unwittingly spreading this disease. Inspire them to help.

4. For our local, state, and federal governments: God, help our elected officials as they allocate the necessary resources for combatting this pandemic. Help them to provide more tests.

5. For our scientific community, leading the charge to understand the disease and communicate its gravity: God, give them knowledge, wisdom, and a persuasive voice.

6. For the media, committed to providing up-to-date information: God, help them to communicate with appropriate seriousness without causing panic.

7. For consumers of media, looking to be well-informed: God, help us find the most helpful local information to equip us to be good neighbors. Keep us from anxiety and panic, and enable us to implement the recommended strategies, even at a cost to ourselves.

8. For those with mental health challenges who feel isolated, anxious, and helpless: God, provide them every necessary support.

9. For the homeless, unable to practice the protocols of social distancing in the shelter system: Protect them from disease, and provide isolation shelters in every city.

10. For international travelers stuck in foreign countries: God, help them return home safely and quickly.

11. For Christian missionaries throughout the world, especially in areas with high rates of infection: God, provide them with words of hope, and equip them to love and serve those around them.

12. For workers in a variety of industries facing layoffs and financial hardship: God, keep them from panic, and inspire your church to generously support them.

13. For families with young children at home for the foreseeable future: God, help mothers and fathers to partner together creatively for the care and flourishing of their children. For single mothers and fathers, grow their networks of support.

14. For parents who cannot stay home from work but must find care for their children: God, present them with creative solutions.

15. For those in need of regular therapies and treatments that must now be postponed: God, help them to stay patient and positive.

Act like you already have coronavirus. (벌써 코비드 19 에 감염된 거처럼 행동하라)

요즘 미디어에서 많이 하는 얘기다. 

무증상 감염이 많아서 그렇다고 한다.

3/13 금요일 저녁, local dental society 에서 이멜이 오기를 치과병원들이 계속 operate 해도 되는거처럼 이메일이 왔었다. elective procedures 는 리스케줄하라고. 그런데 문장 하나 뿐인 recommendation 이었고  얼마나 기간을 두고  리스케줄하라는 건지 vague 했다.

ADA 와 CDA 에서는 여전히 연락이 없었다.

토/일요일 동안 시시각각 급박히 변하는 뉴스를 보고,  치과의사들 게시판을 오가며 과연 월요일부터 일을 해야 하나 말아야 하나 무척 고민했다.  게시판에서도 의견이 분분했다. 

게다가 목/금 high pollen count 로 인해 앨러지 기침이 도져서 더 고민했다. 이 상태로 환자를 보면 안될 거 같아서다. 환자들이 불편하게 생각할텐데, 또 만에 하나 바이러스성이면 어떡하나 염려가 되었다. 매년 봄 앨러지로 고생하긴 하는데 예년같으면  앨러지 기침을 하더라도 입에 목사탕물고 일했다.  그런데 지금 상황에는 어떡해야 하나? 각종 가이드라인을 찾아보고 앨저리와 ㅋㅂㄷ -19 증상 차이에 대해서 찾아보고... 잠을 설치면서 고민했다. 

3/15 일요일 정오, 일하는 오피스들에 연락했다. 앨러지인 가능성이 많은 기침이 나는데,  혹시 모르니까 2 주 동안 일을 쉬곘다고. 이런 시기에는 앨러지로 인한 기침이라도 쉬는게 좋을 거 같다고. 

3/15 일요일 밤 11 시 반쯤 (3/15) CDA 에서 이멜이 왔다. 캘리포니아의 모든 치과병원들을  2 주 동안 닫는 걸 (강한 어조로) 추천한다고 연락이 왔다. 아주 응급 환자 외에는 보지 말라고. 

3/16 월요일 정오 쯤 Bay Area  6 개 카운티에 shelter in place 하라는 주지사의 오더가 내려졌다. 

ADA 에서 이메일이 오기를 3 주동안 미국 전체 치과를 닫는 걸 권고했다. (아주 심각한 응급환자만 보라고)

3/13 금요일 떄만 해도, 현재 상황에 맞는 응급환자의 기준이 어떠한가에 대한 vague 하기만 했는데  화/수요일 동안 치과협회에서 제공하는 응급환자 기준이 더 많이 refine 되었다. 치과협회들에서도 다른 정부기관들처럼, 모두에게 낯설기만 한현상황을 어떻게 타개해 나갈 것인가, 시시각각 바뀌는 상황에 따라서 정책을 refine 해 나가고 있는듯하다. 

그렇게 전체 협회의 이메일이 오니까 맘이 편해지기도 했지만, 지난 주말 동안 혼자서 결정을 내리려고 고민한 시간이 허무하긴 했다. 정말 머리 아프도록 잠도 못 자고 고민했었다: 어떤 기준으로 어떻게 하는 것이 옳은가?   

이런 결정 내리는 것만 해도 그러한데...

지금 최전선에서 일하는 분들, 또 정책을 만들고 주관하는 이들은 얼마나 수고를 하고 계실지...

생각만 해도 숨이 턱 하고 막힌다.

모두를 위해서 많이 많이 기도해야겠다.

될 수 있으면 짧은 기간에 세계 곳곳의 모든 것이 정리되면 좋겠다. 

하나님 우리를 긍휼히 보소서... 자비를 베푸소서...

(며칠 사이에 기침은 좀 더 진정이 되었다. 다른 증상은 없고. 그래도 집에서도 마스크하고 social distancing 을 실천하고 있다. 밥도 다 따로 먹고. 아이도 학교에 다시 갔다 오기도 했고, 아이 아빠는 매년 천식이 있기도 하고.  약 2 주간 이렇게 함께 조심하면, 마스크도 벗고 밥도 같이 먹을 수 있지 않을까? 그런데 밖에 나갔다 올 경우에는 (market 등-) 여전히 어느정도 조심해야 할 듯 하다)

한 달 전에 $ 14.70 에 두 박스 구입한 똑같은 제품이  어제 $78.50 였다. 

그나마 이건 어제고 지금은 available 하지 않네 - 아마존에서 막았나보다.

어쨌든 100 불 넘게 벌었다고 할 수 있나? 흠... 물론 이걸 어디 팔아서 이익을 남길 생각은 전혀 없다.  

며칠 사이에 이 지역도 큰 변화를 보이고 있다.

여전히 마스크 한 사람들은 드문드문 있을 뿐이지만, ( 건강한 사람은 마스크하지 말라 그래서 그런지)

지난 월요일 아침부터 출근 길 근처 코스코 주차장은 차들로 붐볐고, 화장실 휴지와 bottled water 을 카트에  가득 채운 사람들이 많이 보였다. 

한국마켓에 라면은 많은데 쌀은 많이 팔린 모습이었다. 카운터에 여쭤보니 쌀은 곧 들어올 거라고 하신다.

bottle water 하고 코스코 휴지가 품절되는 건 왜 그럴까 궁금하긴 하다. 다른 마켓이나 drug store 에는 휴지가 그대로 있다.

코스코 휴지에 뭔가 특별한게 있나? 물론 unit price 비교하면 훨씬 더 저렴하긴 하겠지만, 다른 곳 휴지에 비해서 코스코 휴지만 동나는게 왜 그럴까?

바이러스 떄문에 수도가 끊기는 것도 아닌데, 물을 왜 그렇게 많이 사 갈까? 수도물에 바이러스가 섞이는것도 아니고, 아니면 수도국(?) 사람들이 아프면 수도가 끊길  가능성이 있나?  문화적 시대적 차이 떄문에 내가 생소하게 느끼는건가? 이전 한국에서는 수도물 (보리차)을 끓여서 마시기도 했는데 요즘 사람들은 bottled water 을 많이 마셔서 그런지? 

가습기용 distilled water 를 몇 통 사놓았는데, 위기상황에는 우리도 그 물을 마셔야하나? 한다.

H1N1때도 이정도는 전혀 아니었는데, 지금 상황이 생소하다.

전염병 대비라기 보다는 snow storm 또는 지진 등에 대비하는 것처럼 보인다. 

처음 중국우한에서의 폐렴 뉴스가 나왔을 때는, 폐렴 증상이 무척 심하다기에 어느 정도 panic 하긴 했었는데,

몇 주동안 뉴스를 계속 듣다보니 피로도가 커지고 있다. 

그래도 계속 조심해야지.  미리 (쓸만큼만) 구입해놓았던  hand sanitizer 와 위의 wipe 을 듬뿍듬뿍 쓰고 있다.

무증상상태에서 다른 이에게 옮길 수 있다기에.. 이미 내게 균이 있는건 아닐까?  나도 모르게 underlying condition 이 있는 이들 등에게옮기는 이가 될까? 조심한다.

세계 경제에의 여파가 크다니, 일반사람들의 삶이 어떤 영향을 받을지 여기저기 찾아보게 된다.

지금 이 시간의 의미가 뭘까? 앞으로 세계는 어떻게 변하게 될지?

한 시민으로서 이렇게 신경이 쓰이는데, 더 큰 책임을 가지고 있는 이들은 지금 어떨지. 

아픈 사람들, 이 상황을 제압하기 위해 애써서 일하는 분들, 이미 경제적 영향을 크게 받고 있는 분들... 떠올리며 기도한다.
