앞글에 쓴 post nasal drip 으로 인한 기침이 시작된지 약 3 달이 지났는데 갑자기 기침을 안 하기 시작했다.

지난 주만 해도 저녁이 되면 기침을 하곤 했는데...

이번에도 어김없이 약 세 달이 지나니 기침이 그쳤다. 

코에 이물감이 여전히 좀 있긴 하지만, 기침은 안한다. 

항상 그렇다. post nasal drip 으로 인한 기침은 딱 세달 간다. 

계절의 변화로 인한 것도 아니다. 1 월, 3 월, 7 월, 11 월 등 각 계절에 onset 이 있어도 약 3 달동안 기침을 하고 그친다. 

석달 동안 코와 sinus 등에서 무슨 일이 벌어지는 걸까? 궁금하다.  

그동안 기침사탕, nasal wash, nasal spray 등 무수히 썼지만 그것들이 증상을 조금 완화하긴 했지만, 그 덕분에 기침을 멈춘건 같진 않다.  

다음에 또 이런 기침을 하게 되면 ENT 의사를 만나서 검사를 받아봐야겠다.

지금은 또 아이가 기침을 하고 있는데, 아이의 기침은 후비루에 의한 게 아니라 기관지 (airway) 에서 나오는 것.

아이 기침은 이사하느라 먼지를 많이 들이마시면서 시작되었다. 

빨리 나았으면 좋겠다.

세가족이 기침을 잘 하는 경향이 있어서,  마스크를 항상 하고 다녀야 할 듯 하다. 

7 ,8 월 두 달 동안 post covid syndrome 을, 또 7 월 한 달 동안은 Post k--- syndrome 을 겪었다. 즉, 몸과 마음이 지친 상태로 지냈다.  7 월 초에 열린 집회 끝무렵에 Covid 에 걸렸었다.  집에 와서 이틀 후 양성이 나오고 증상이 시작되었었다. 이번의 Covid  는 2 년 전처럼 심하지는 않았으나 그래도 일상에 영향을 줬다.  그 후 post-nasal drip 으로 인한 잔기침이 지속되었다. 호흡기 질환을 앓고 난 후나 먼지를 들여마신 후에는 늘상 겪는 기침이다. 
7 월 한 달동안 기분 또한  무척 다운되어있는 상태애서, "Why are you so downcast, my soul??" 성경말씀이 절로 떠올랐다.
Why 라고 묻게 되니, 왜 그런가 이유를 밝혀내서 그에 맞는 방법으로 극복해야지 하는 생각에, 머리속으로 무척 분주하게 분석을 했다. 
시편 43 편의 저자와 같은 이유에서 downcast 된 건 같지 않고, 나름 여러 이유를 분석, 정리해봤었다

1. 그야말로 covid 의 영향으로 downcast 되었다? Long covid 가 mood and emotion 에 영향을 줄 수 있다는 정보도 있다. 
2. introverted person 이 오랜만에 대형집회에 가서 놀랐다? 흠, 그건 아닌 거 같다. 지난 4 월에 전공과 학회에 갔었는데, 거기는  더 많은 사람들이 모였었고, 그 집회에서도 많은 사람들을 만났었다. 그 후 다녀와서 전혀 "downcast' 되지 않았었다.  
3. 오랜만에 한인모임/집회에 가서 느낀, 반대의 culture shock? 아예 없지 않은 건 아니다.  또 한국인이 모인 교회나 기독교 모임 특유의 문화와 행동양식이 없지 않다. 그래도 그게 날 힘들게 할 정도는 전혀 아니다.  
4. 잠을 잘 못 자긴 했다. 잠을 못자면 그 휴유증이 며칠은 간다. 잠은 꼭 챙겨자야한다. 그런데 며칠 연속으로 잠을 잘 못 잤으니 그런가? 
6. 일의 강도는 전혀 심하지 않았다. macro-scale 의 몸노동을 좀  했지만 그닥.  평소 하는 일은 micro-scale 이지만, 정신노동도 수반되고 일이 더 훨씬 intense 하다고 볼 수 있다.  다만 집회 일을 하는 방법들이 평소 일터와 너무 달라서 그로 인한 culture shock 이 심했다. 그러나 하나님께서 그 안에서 일하심을 불 수 있어서, 하나님의 방법을 이해하게 되었다. 
7. 엘리야가 하나님의 큰 거사를 치루고 난 후 depression 에 빠졌던거처럼? 내가 엘리야처럼 뭔가 큰 기적을 행한 게 전혀 아니지만, 하나님의 일하심을 목격하고 엘리야처럼 depression 을 겪었다? 그래서 팀켈러의 설교 "the still small voice," 설교를 들었다. 그 후 8 월 encounter with God 본문으로 또 나왔다.   
8. 다시 살아가야 하는 세상과 일상을 마주하면서 생기는 감정들 때문인가?  일상과 비교해서 비교적 수련회 '노는' 모드로 지내다가, 다시 뺴곡한 일상과 세상을 대하려니 한숨이 나오긴 헀다.
하루는 운전하며 기도했다. "예수님도, 세상 속에서 예수님의 일상을 살아가시면서 복잡미묘한 감정들을 겪으셨을텐데, 예수님은 어떻게 하셨나요?" 여쭈었다. 그런데 왜인지 모르지만, 욥기 마지막의 하나님께서 모습을 드러내는 부분이 머리 속에 떠올랐다. 그리고 길가 나뭇잎들이 바람에 산들거리는 게 더 선명하게 보였다. 신비로운 체험이라고는 전혀 안 받아들인다. 내 의식이 만들어낸 heightened sense 이거나, 지푸라기라도 잡고 싶은 심정에서 그 순간에 더 집중했는지도 모르겠다.  하여튼, 산들바람같은 성령님을 좀 더 의식하기로 했다.  #7 the still small voice 와 어느 정도 일맥상통하니, 경로야 어찌 되었건 '성경적'이라고 여긴다.  

9. 또 다른 기도할 일이 있긴 있었다. (여기 굳이 쓰지 않는다)

In conclusion,
7&8 월은   covid 의 영향, 잠부족, 세상과 일상을 마주하며 생기는 감정들, 또 다른 일 등등으로 'downcast' 였다.
이젠 많이 회복되고 '다른 일' 도 괜찮아지고 있다.

Post nasal drip 으로 인한 기침은 보통 세 달 정도 가는데, 이제 좀 잦아드는 듯 하다.  그저께는 좀 나았고, 어제는 다시 심했고, 오늘은 좀 낫고.. ups and downs 가 있는 걸 보니, 앞으로 차차 나아질 듯 하다. 

그렇게 여름이 가고 이젠 9 월이다.

이제 더 이상 학생도 아니지만
새학년 새학기 기분을 내 봐야겠다.
 

최근  Encounter with God 에서,
1 Kings 의 솔로몬 이후, 우상숭배와 evil deeds 를 멈추지 못하는 왕들과 시편 106, 107 편을 읽었다.
아세라와 바일에 관해 검색해봤다. 수천년 전 우상이긴 하지만, 이렇게 우스꽝스럽게 생긴 모습이라니. 그 시대 예언자가 "worthless idols" 라고 하는데 그 표현이 너무나도 당연하다. 역시 하나님의 시각은 정확하다. 
그리 조잡한 우상신상들과 high places 를 없애는 게 그토록 어려웠을까? 우상은 없애더라도 high places 는 남겨든 왕도 있었다하고. 
친인척, 정치적 이해관계와 권력구도, 또 백성들의 민심 등이 모두 다 얽혀 있어서 쉽지 않았겠지 짐작해본다. 
그런 우상들을 숭배하게 된 이유는, 가나안 땅의 풍요를 추구하는 맘에서도 그러했을 것이고, 눈에 보이는 우상들을 더 그럴 듯 보여서도 있으리라.  그 외에 다른 이유들도 있으리라.
현대에도 비슷한 이유들로  '우상들'을 완전히 없애지 못하고 있는지도 모르겠다. 그러한 '우상들'은 세월이 지난 후 뒤돌아보면 우스꽝스러운 것들이리라. 아니, 하나님의 시각으로 볼 때는 아세라와 바알같이 조잡하기 그지 없는 모습이리라.  
그 '우상들'을 구하는 이유는 결국 물질적 풍요, 편안함, 권력, 쾌락,  타인의 인정 등을 바래서이고, 'self' 혹은 'self' 가 확장된 '우리'를 우선하기 떄문일텐데...
그로부터 백프로 자유로운 인간이 과연 있을까?  
정말 hopeless 하다.
 
예수님의 십자가의 능력, 자비와 구원을 구할 수 밖에 없는 인간이다.  

책을 처음 접하고, 'NT Wright 책 치고는 얇고 글자도 크네?' 하면서 금방 다 읽어버리겠군 얕봤다. 

그런데 자그마치 8 주가 걸렸다. 물론  일상을 살아가는 틈틈히 읽긴 했지만,  도무지 진도가 안 나갔다.  

어렵다. 진도가 안 나가서 중간에 멈추고 딴청도 많이 피웠다. 그러다가 '이건 안 되겠다. 진도라도 빼자는 맘으로 끝까지 읽어버렸다. 

NT Wright 이, 이 책 관련 영상에서 "roam through Romans" 라는 표현도 쓰고,

도시 런던을 손바닥처럼 아는 숙련된 택시기사처럼, 이 책을 통해서 로마서라는 도시를 drive 하는 방법을 배운다라는 표현도 썼는데,

지금의 난, roam through 혹은 drive through 한 것이 아니라 로마서 8 장을 겨우겨우 엉금엉금 기어 나왔다고 볼 수 있다. 

요점은 대략 이해되지만, 그 포인트들에 도달하는 증몀법을 반복해서 설명할 수 있는 정도는 아니다. 

앞으로 여러번 반복해서 읽어야 하겠다. 

내용은 아주 훌륭하다. NT wright 이 그 전 책들에 다루지 않았던 부분들을 많이 다룬 것 같다.  그리고 하나님의 큰 세계 (큰 스토리) 속에서 크리스챤의 존재방식을 아주 훌륭히 보여줘서 큰 도움이 되었다. -- 신알못의 의견.

시편 104 편을 읽다가 모르는 단어를 마주쳤다.
Stork, hyrax, crag 
그 중에 hyrax 는 한국어로 바위너구리고 주서식지가 아프리카, 중동지방이란다. 사진으로 보니 귀엽다. 

시편 104 편의 저자가 다윗이라는데, 다윗은 자연을 다스리는 하나님을 보는 눈이 섬세하다. Hyrax 같은 동물에도 신경을 쓰고. 그 지역에서는 흔한 동물이었을까?
다윗이 양치기를 할 때, 혹은 사울에게서 도망다니며 광야생활을 할 때. 아니면 전쟁을 치루며 광야에서 생활하며, 밤에 바위너구리들이 활동하는 걸 보면서 귀엽다고 느꼈을까?  잡아먹은 건 아니겠지? 유대인의 규율이 어떤지 모르겠다.
18 절에 보면, "the crags are a refuge for the hyrax," 라고 refuge (은신처)라는 표현을 쓴 걸 보면, 천적을 피해서 바위 밑에 숨은 hyrax 에게 감정이입했을 가능성이 다분한 듯도 하다. 
어쩄거나 그렇게 온 만물과 자연을 다스리시는 하나님을 찬양하면서. Psalm 104:33-35 로 마무리짓는다..

그렇게 하는 묵상과 노래가 하나님을 기쁘시게 했으면 좋겠다고.  meditation 은 번역에 따라 song 으로도 써 있기도 한다.
그것이 song 이더라도 어쨌든간에 묵상에서 나온 노래일테니, 이래도 저래도 맞는듯하다.
meditation 이 하나님을 기쁘게 할 수 있다는 생각은 안해본거 같다. 34 절이 신선하게 다가온다.
 
저자가 34 절에서 마무리 짓지 않고.  35 절을 굳이 쓴 걸 보면, 그가 처한 상황이 sinners and the wicked 를 의식할 수 밖에 없는 상황이었다고 볼 수 있을까? 자신이 중죄를 짓기 전에 쓴 시이기에 sinners 에 대해서 그리 얘기할 수 있었겠지.
 
예수님 이후를 살아가는 우리는 궁극적으로는 sinners and the wicked 가 회개하고 용서받기를 기도해야겠지.

최근 읽은 말씀과 교회 설교를 통해서 예수님의 believers 를 위한 중보기도, 성령님의 중보기도, 또 믿음의 조상의 중보기도를 재발견.

 예수님과 성령님의 기도, 또 수천년전부터의 믿음의 조상들의 기도가 우리를 지탱하고 있는, 보이지 않는 세계를 의식한다. 

시편 102 편처럼, 우리 또한 future generation, 심지어는 아직 '창조'되지 않은 이들을 위해서 기도해야 하지 않을까? 

하기야 The Blessing 찬양에도 대충 그런 내용이 조금 포함되지...

믿음의 조상의 중보기도 (더 많은 reference 가 있겠지만 최근 읽은 시편 102)

밑의 글들을 훑어내려가다 문득 발견. 꽃병을 받치고 있는 꽃받침은 이번 집회의 마지막 예배에서 받아온 거다. 

큰 십자가를 이루고 있던 컵받침들 중 하나이다. 컵을 받치고 있는 컵받침처럼 스스로를 드러내지 말고 하나님 나라를 섬기는 이들이 되라고 준 souvenir 다. 컵받침을 보면서 그리 하길 기억하라고.

꽃병을 탁상 위에 놓으며. 마침 거기 있던 컵받침 위에 올려놓았었다. 

며칠이 지난 후 저 꽃병은 치워졌고, 컵받침은 홀로 탁상 위에 남겨졌다  

나는 오늘까지도 저 컵받침을 크게 notice 하지 못하고 있었다. 저 컵받침은 스스로를 드러내지 않고 꽃병을 섬기는 소임을 아주 훌륭히 한건가? 

저 꽃들은 시들어 버러졌는데, 저 컵받침은 한결같이 제 자리를 지키고 있다. 

다음에는 뭔가 '영원한'  걸 올려줘야 저 컵받침이 기뻐할 거 같다. 흠...

교과서들을 버리기 시작헀다. 

인생의 대부분을 학생으로 살았으니 교과서가 무척 많다. 분야는 왜 이리 다양한지.

아이의 책들과 물건들을 위해서 스페이스를 만들려면, 우리 책들과 물건들을 버려야 하지 않을까?

손때가 탄 교과서들은 아직 못 버리고 있고, 열심히 안 읽은 책들을 우선으로 버리고 있다.  그러나 손떄 탄 교과서도 과감하게 버리려고 한다. 요즘 쓸모있는 내 specialty 책들은 빼고. 

버리면서 사진 한 장씩은 찍어 남기고 있다.  

밑의 사진은 대학원 때 공부한 mechanics 교과서인데,  lecture notes 중심이라서 교과서는 거의 안 봤던 거 같다. 

그래도 한 때는 저 부호들과 수식들을 이해하고 problem sets 를 풀고 시험을 봤겠지.
